Gwendolyne Maxine Stacy, better known as Spider-Gwen or Ghost-Spider, is a superhero appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Created by Jason Latour and Robbi Rodriguez, she first appeared in Edge of Spider-Verse #2 (2014–15), and was the main character of the 2015 ongoing series Spider-Gwen.
The character was developed for the Into the Spider-Verse shorts series, a spin-off of the acclaimed Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2014) film, and later made her debut as a playable character in the video game Marvel Rising: Across the Spider-Verse (2018–2019), voiced by Laura Bailey. The character also appears in the Marvel Comics relaunch All-New, All-Different Avengers and has been adapted into other media including animated television, video games and a Lego Marvel Super Heroes suit.
A true ally and friend to her spidey-loving brother Peter, Gwen has always been willing to help those in need of assistance. She’s a scientist with a passion for DNA formulas and is inspired by her uncle Raymond Warren to pursue science. Her work brings her into contact with chemicals that give her spider-like powers, which she uses to fight crime under the alias of Ghost-Spider.
